Do flowers have special meanings that I should be aware of?
Back in the Victorian era, a language of flowers was created, and became the way people could express their feelings without the spoken word. Various flowers and floral arrangements were used to send coded messages, allowing individuals to express feelings which otherwise could not be spoken. Each flower had significance, and if you sent the wrong flower, you sent the wrong message. Here are the commonly understood meanings of some popular flowers:
• Red Roses mean Romantic Love
• White Roses mean Plutonic Love
• Pink Roses mean Secret Love
• Yellow Roses mean Friendship
• Carnations mean Fascination
• Daisies mean Loyal Love
• Lilies mean Sweetness and Purity
• Bamboo means Good Luck
• Orchids mean Love and Beauty
You can always ask one of our professional florists what flowers and flower arrangements would suit your particular needs. Just give us a call at 800-677-8185 during business hours, or send an email.
What problems do people have when they order flowers online? And how do you avoid them?
Some people have reported that the flowers they received were the right flower, but the wrong color. Other times the delivery schedule was delayed. In other cases, the flowers or plants were smaller in real life than they appeared to be on the website. When you order from U.S. Teleflorist you can be confident that we will let you know if any seasonal substitutions need to be made, or if there is going to be a delay in deliver due to weather conditions or holiday schedules. It is our goal that you are always 100% satisfied.
How do online florists deliver their flower arrangements?
Some online florists will ship your flowers from a central location using an overnight delivery service. The flowers arrive in a box, which is a lot less dramatic than having an open arrangement hand delivered by a messenger. This is one good reason to use U.S. Teleflorist, because we work with a network of trusted local florists, who actually provide the flowers and take care of local delivery.
What happens after I order a gift online?
Your online flower order is sent over a secure, encrypted connection to U.S. Teleflorist, and you will receive a confirmation number to certify that the order has been placed.
Is my credit card number safe?
Yes. Ordering flowers and gifts from U.S. Teleflorist is safe and secure. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology on our Web site, which means all of your personal information, credit card number, name, address and telephone number, is encrypted before it is sent to our secure server. Our secure server is protected against unauthorized access. Believe us when we say you never have to worry about your credit card safety.
When it comes to my online flower or gift order, what if I want to change the delivery date, delivery address or card message?
No problem. But we ask that you request any changes 24-hours in advance of the delivery date. Just contact us via email or telephone us at 800-677-8185. Please try to have your order number available.
When do you charge my credit card?
We obtain authorization when you place your order. We charge your credit card the day of the date of delivery. Please note: Debit cards will have funds placed on hold for 2-5 days.
Does U.S. Teleflorist have delivery limitations?
Yes, we do. These limitations include:
• If there are orders made after the free delivery period, especially after business hours, the customer will have to pay the standard delivery charges of the florist.
• If you request a rush order or a special delivery, there will be an additional charge.
• There is no cancellation of an order after delivery. However, if cancellation occurs before the delivery date, a fee of 10% of cost of the order will still be charged to the customer.
• Delivery on Sundays and holidays depends on the availability of the delivery area. Orders to be delivered to businesses would usually not be feasible on those days.
What kinds of flowers should you give for an anniversary?
When looking at the statistics for divorce today, it’s easy to see why every anniversary needs to be celebrated. Paul Sweeney said it best: A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love, trust, partnership, tolerance and tenacity. The order varies for any given year.” Whatever order you’re facing this year, an anniversary is the time to honor the love you share today, while setting the tone for the year to come. While there are lots of flowers for an anniversary that are popular today, including the ever popular roses, daisies, iris, sweet peas, violets and nasturtiums, we also see a rise in the popularity of romantic gift baskets.
What about Valentine’s Day? What flowers are best?
Everyone knows the top flowers given during Valentine's Day are roses, and the selection of colors available to you is almost endless. We like to ask that you stray outside the expected, and offer a gift that defines “romance” – and that’s different for everyone. Consider a keepsake memento of your love, in addition to a stunning floral bouquet, or potted plant.
Should I send flowers or a keepsake gift on Mother’s Day?
What did Washington Irving say? “A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”
A friend like that deserves a gift from the heart. Think about what flowers or decorative plants she loves, and then select an appropriate bouquet or potted plant. If she’d rather have a keepsake she can treasure for years to come, then that’s the best choice. Or, you could combine the two, for a Mother’s Day gift to remember!
